FEDORA events in 2006

The IXth FEDORA Congress was organised in Vilnius/Lithuania from 22nd to 25th October 2006

“Guidance and Counselling within the European Higher Education Area”/ “L’orientation et le Conseil dans l’Espace Européen de l’Enseignement Supérieur”

Key speakers included representatives of the European Commission, UNESCO and the EUA.

Looking at provisions of guidance and counselling in Higher Education within the European Union, the congress will draw on practice and theory to provide perspectives on guidance and counselling within the European Area of Higher Education.

We invite all those who are working in this field to participate in this broad debate, which we aim to channel into a coherent charter on guidance and counselling in higher education addressed to the political and cultural decision-makers and to the wider public.

Symposium in Krakow from 9-10 February 2006

The FEDORA Symposium on Guidance and Counselling in Higher Education was an important step in updating existing reports on the guidance and counselling provision across Europe and gaining a deeper insight into guidance and counselling in the new member states.

A full report of the symposium is in preparation and will be published on the FEDORA homepage in September 2006. Some material is already available under “Supporting Documents” at the FEDORA Congress website at http://www.event-management.lt/fedora2006/

FEDORA Summer Universities are devoted to student adviser / counsellor training: Montpellier (1993), Dublin (1995), Amsterdam (1996), Bordeaux (1998), Stockholm (1999), Paris (2001).

The FEDORA Career Guidance & Employment Group organises regular conferences dealing with matters of interest to HE careers advisers and employers: Cambridge (1990), Louvain-la-Neuve (1992), Rostock (1996), Oulu (1998), London (2004)

he FEDORA Psyche Group organises regular symposia dealing with matters of interest to HE student psychological counsellors: Naples (1992), Athens (1995), Dublin (1997), Copenhagan (1999), Lisbon (2002).
